Understanding scan results
When a scan finishes, you land on the results page — one row per car, one column per data point. This page walks through what each column means, how to sort, share, hide, favourite, and export the rows.
The columns
From left to right, the default columns are:
- Reg — number plate. Click to copy.
- Make / Model / Year / Mileage — pulled straight from the auction listing.
- Buy / Reserve — the auction’s asking price (Buy Now) or current reserve.
- AT Retail Value — the AutoTrader retail figure, with an AT or SA badge depending on the source.
- Profit — retail minus buy price.
- Margin % — profit divided by retail, expressed as a percentage.
- AT Rating — a 1-100 desirability score (how quickly the car typically sells).
- Days to Sell — AutoTrader’s estimate for time on forecourt.
- Service History / MOT / Cat flags — quick condition checks. Cat S/N/D shown in red.
- Platform — Motorway, CarWow Buy Now, or CarWow Auction.
AT vs SA badge
The AT badge means the retail figure came from AutoTrader. The SA badge means it came from Scan Auctions Valuation — our own engine that kicks in when the AutoTrader portal can’t price the car (no exact match, plate not found, session expired). Read more in What is Scan Auctions Valuation?
Profit-bucket colours
Rows are colour-banded by which profit bucket they hit, set by the thresholds on the filter:
- Quick Flip — hits your low threshold (default £1,500+).
- Main — hits your mid threshold (default £2,500+).
- Luxury — hits your top threshold (default £4,000+).
Sorting and filtering
Click any column header to sort by that column — click again to reverse direction. The filter pills above the table let you narrow rows by make, year, profit bucket, platform, and more without re-running the scan.
Bulk select and share
Tick the checkbox on each row to bulk select. With rows selected you get a Send to chat action that drops them into your team’s chat thread. For a single car, hit the per-row Share button — Copy link, WhatsApp, or Email.
Hiding and favouriting
Each row has an eye icon to hide it — hidden rows collapse into an “X rows hidden” banner at the bottom of the table, click it to bring them back. To favourite a row, double-click it (or use the star icon). Favourites pick up an amber border so they stand out on a busy results page.
Export
Click the Export button next to the Columns toggle. You get two options: Download Excel (.xlsx with profit-bucket colour bands and AT rating colour scale) or Download CSV (raw data, opens in any spreadsheet).
